What counts towards my monthly booking limit?
In this article
Your booking limit includes essentially every booking created in Resos, regardless of how it was made. Closed-table blocks never count. Bookings brought in with the import tool are left out of the check that upgrades a paid plan, but on the Free plan they count like any other booking.
This means that every booking added to your restaurant counts towards your subscription limit, whether it was created by a guest online or by your staff. Both plans are counted over a rolling window that moves every day: there is no reset on the 1st of the month, and the window is not tied to the date you signed up. Paid plans count the bookings created in the last 30 days. The Free plan counts the bookings created in the last month counted back from today, so its window runs 28 to 31 days depending on the month. Read more about how our pricing works.
Which bookings count?
The following bookings all count towards your booking limit:
- Online bookings made through your booking page or widget
- Walk-ins added manually
- Phone reservations entered manually
- Bookings created by staff
- Waitlist reservations
- Canceled, declined and deleted bookings
- Reservations from Reserve with Google
- Reservations from Facebook & Instagram
- Reservations from any other connected booking channel
In short, if a guest booking is created in Resos it counts towards your booking limit. Table blocks are the exception. Imported bookings are left out of the paid-plan upgrade check, but they still count on the Free plan.
Why are manual bookings included?
Manual bookings, such as walk-ins and phone reservations, use the same booking system, table management, communication features, reporting, and guest database as online bookings. For this reason, they are included in the booking limit.
Bookings you import when you move to Resos
Bookings brought in with the import tool do not trigger an automatic plan upgrade: the plan check skips them on purpose. They do show up in the booking count on your Billing page, so that number can look higher than the number your plan is measured against.
Importing history does not depend on the dates in your file: every imported booking is stamped with the moment of the import. It will make the number on your Billing page jump, but it will not upgrade your plan. See how to import bookings.
Importing does not move a paid plan up. The Free plan has no such exemption: its limit counts imported bookings, so an import of more than 25 bookings will trip it. Tell us at hi@resos.com before a large import and we will make sure it does not lock you out.
FAQ
Do manual bookings count towards my booking limit?
Yes, manual bookings entered into Resos count towards your booking limit.
Can I see how many bookings I’ve used?
Yes, if you are the owner or an admin and your restaurant has a paid plan: go to Menu → Settings & add-ons → Account → Billing. The panel shows your plan and the bookings created in the past 30 days. On the Free plan the count appears in the warning at the top of the dashboard instead.
Which bookings don’t count?
Table blocks do not count. Bookings brought in with the import tool do not count towards an automatic plan upgrade, but they do count towards the Free plan’s limit. Everything else created in Resos counts, including canceled, declined and deleted bookings.
What happens when I reach my limit?
If you exceed the limit of a paid plan, your plan is upgraded automatically to the next one, usually within a few hours. If you are on the Free plan, you keep receiving bookings, but you have 7 days to pick a paid plan. After that the dashboard only opens the plan page until you subscribe. The block does not lift on its own when your bookings drop again: it is removed when you start a paid plan, or by us if you ask. Read more about upgrading to a bigger plan.
