How to close or delete your Resos account
In this article
Leaving Resos is two separate things, and most restaurants only need the first one.
- Canceling your subscription stops the billing. You can do it yourself in your settings, and only the account owner can do it. It is reversible: until the period ends, a Reactivate subscription button on the Billing page puts the subscription back.
- Deleting your account takes down the restaurant profile and removes the logins attached to it. It is not self-service: you have to request it, and we ask you to write from the email address the account is registered to.
If your restaurant is only closed for a season, do not cancel at all. Pause your subscription instead.
Step 1: Stop new bookings coming in
Do this first, even if you are canceling today. Your booking page keeps taking bookings after you cancel, so reservations keep arriving until you switch it off. It also blocks guests who saved your old booking link.
Go to Menu → Settings & add-ons → Bookings → Managing bookings → New online bookings → Disable booking page & widget.
This covers your booking page and your widget straight away, and takes you out of the daily update we send Google. It does not cover every channel. Bookings sent in over the REST API, and bookings from Reserve with Facebook and Instagram, are still accepted while the switch is off, so turn off any integration you have set up as well.
Step 2: Export what you want to keep
You can download your bookings, your customers and your feedback as CSV files. See how to export your data. Do it before you cancel: if you can no longer get into the account afterwards, write to us from the account email and we will help.
Step 3: Cancel your subscription
- Go to Menu → Settings & add-ons → Account → Billing.
- Under Subscriptions, click Cancel subscription.
- Resos will ask why you are leaving and may offer you a pause or a cheaper plan. Decline those to reach the final confirmation step.
Running several locations? Each location is its own Resos profile with its own subscription. Switch to the location you are closing, then cancel it there; the others are unaffected.
Reserve with Google is a paid add-on that needs a running subscription, so it is switched off automatically when your subscription ends. You do not have to disable it first, and your restaurant drops out of the Google feed on the next daily update. Reserve with Facebook and Instagram is switched off the same way.
Two things to know about that. It happens when the period you paid for runs out, not when you click cancel, so both keep taking bookings until then. And it only happens when the subscription you canceled was the last active one on that profile: if the profile still has another subscription running, they stay on.
When the subscription ends, and refunds
Your subscription renews automatically at the end of every billing period until you cancel it. Canceling takes effect at the end of the period you are currently in, so you keep access until then.
Log in afterwards and your account stays active, with your past bookings still there. The one thing that does block the dashboard is an unpaid invoice: settle it and everything opens again.
A subscription period that has already started is not refunded. That applies to yearly billing too: unused months inside an annual period are not paid back. The one exception is our 90-day money-back guarantee: if you are still within 90 days of your first payment, write to us and we refund the full amount. If you want the option to stop at short notice, ask us to move you to monthly billing before your next renewal. See how to upgrade or downgrade your plan.
Note: If you think you have been billed in error, write to us from the account’s registered email address and we will look into the invoice.
Request full deletion of your account and data
Canceling leaves your account in place. To have everything removed, email hi@resos.com from the email address the account is registered to. We ask for that so we can tell that the request really comes from the account owner. Tell us the name of the restaurant, and which profile to delete if you have more than one.
When we delete an account we take down the restaurant profile and remove the logins attached to it. Ask us if you also need the guest and booking records anonymized, and we will do that as part of the same request.
You can remove your saved card yourself before you write in, under Menu → Settings & add-ons → Account → Billing → Manage payment methods. Tell us if you would like us to do it for you as part of the deletion. Your card details are held by Stripe, which is a separate company we do not control, so verify your data removal with Stripe directly if you need confirmation from them.
Getting your booking page out of Google
Disabling your booking page stops it taking bookings, but the page may still appear in Google search for a while. If guests are still finding it, ask us to remove the profile and we will take the booking page down.
